Our Family creates

Beautiful Outdoor Spaces for your family!

We are proud to have served both Indiana and Ohio over the past for decades and look forward to helping families across the state build better backyards. If you have an outdoor living dream, we here to help you make it a reality.

Our story

We are a family-owned and operated business that began in Union City, Indiana with Dan Wasson Sr. Dan was offered the opportunity to purchase a small nursery after being its sole employee for only seven weeks, and in June of 1977, Wasson Nursery was born.

Continuing to grow, year after year, one piece of equipment at a time, what started as a one man operation has grown into a company of over 60 employees. In March of 2006, Wasson Nursery expanded its retail operations from Union City to Muncie with the opening of the Wasson Nursery Express. Then, in 2007, Muncie operations continued to grow with the opening of a large nursery and greenhouse complex in Muncie on county road 500 West.

Throughout our history, Wasson has been more than just the name on our signs–it represents a set of core values that drive the work we do: integrity, craftsmanship, and the best price for the highest quality. And family is still something we value: Dan’s sons Danny and Bob are now the managers of Wasson Nursery’s two retail locations, and the company boasts a core group of other Wasson family members.

With our combined experience and expertise, we offer a wide range of services, including modern landscape design, complete property layouts, brick walks, patios, outdoor living and entertaining areas, detailed lawn care services, tree spraying, lawn mowing, and landscape maintenance.

We also welcome you to visit one of our two full-service garden centers and experience the finest plants and flowers as well as a wide selection of stone and landscaping supplies.

Bio
After graduating high school, Dan joined the marine core for 3 years as jet engine mechanic. After the marines, he went to Ball State University on the GI bill as a math major.  After junior year, he met an old man who owned a small one-man nursery in Union City who offered him a job.  After only working there for 7 weeks, the old man wanted Dan to buy the nursery from him.  Dan went to the bank to get a loan to buy this man’s nursery.  The banker also had a small nursery, and made Dan a deal.  The banker would give him the loan to buy the nursery if Dan also bought his nursery.  Dan bought both nurseries, made them one and named the company Wasson Nursery in June of 1977.

Wasson Nursery started out with just 4 employees.  From there the company grew continuously.  In spring 2006, the Wasson Nursery Express was opened in Muncie.  The Express was run by Dan’s sons, Bob and Dan Jr.  Dan then purchased Ritchey’s greenhouses in fall 2007 and started building the current Muncie office.  The Muncie office opened in spring 2008.  Since then, the business has grown exponentially.
